Paul matriculated at Southwest Baptist University where he received his B.A in 1985 and at the University of Houston Law Center where he earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence in December 1991. He then moved to the Rio Grande Valley to practice law and has lived and practiced there his entire career, almost 30 years.

For many years he managed his own law firm which practiced commercial litigation with an emphasis in contract and commercial debt litigation. Paul is the trial and appellate attorney of record in several appellate opinions stemming from such work. He regularly serves as court appointed receiver in post-judgment enforcement proceedings. In the Fall of 2020, Paul joined the Firm.

Paul is a member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas, the Nevada
State Bar, and the Federal Bar of the Southern District of Texas. He is a past officer and director of the Hidalgo County Bar Association, author of the award winning series entitled 40-Plus Practice: The Voice of Experience, and recipient of the following professional awards: 2011-12 HCBA Board Member of the Year; 2012-2013 HCBA Volunteer of the Year; 2014 John E. Cook Pro Bono Award.

Paul resides in McAllen with his wife and daughter.
